“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 KJV
Wisdom is the ability to tell between right and wrong. Understanding however, seeks to ask questions that help you know why it is right or wrong.
The only time when a person can fully tell between right and wrong is when they know God. That is why the word of God says ,”The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom”. Precisely it says; “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10 Wait!
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
Then this is why the word says “Wisdom is the principal thing”. Meaning “God is the principal thing”. If “God is the principle thing”, that means once you get God you must seek to understand Him. Therefore it says, “With all thy getting, get understanding.”It says above, “Knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”.
If we rephrase the opening word we can read it as follows: Wisdom (God) is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom (God) and with all thy getting, get understanding (knowledge of God). Proverbs 4:7 KJV Read Proverbs 4 and Proverbs 8 and see what you’ll discover.
