Purpose discovery is the second most important thing after accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and savior. There are 3 fundamentals to finding your purpose in life; Identity, relationship, and authority. My book Am I? Why identity, relationship, and authority? Jesus became our example of the life one ought to live on earth. In His life and ministry, He shows us who we are, how we ought to live, how we relate to the Father, what we can do, and how our bodies are vessels of the perpetuation of the glorious gospel of Christ.
The pillars of your life purpose
Know and understand who God says you areBefore you understand the specifics of your life, you need to understand what God’s intention for creating man is. You need to understand what the role of a spirit in a body is because that is how we were created. Jesus’ life on earth in bodily form, shows us this example. ‘In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believeth not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God should shine unto them.’ 2 Corinthians 4:4The enemy is out to destroy people’s lives and detour them from their life purpose. We live in a world where people suffer from a serious identity crisis. Everyone is being told who they should be which goes against everything that God says about you. People are going to great lengths to become everything they are not, leading to protests that are founded and sustained on a lack of knowledge or ignorance of one’s identity. If you are ignorant of who God says you are, you are bound to live someone else’s life. Let not this be you.And unless Christians study and meditate on the Word, we won’t know who we are, whose we are, what we have, what we can do, and what we’ve created for. A mind renewal (Rom 12:2) enables us to transform the systems and patterns of this world and that renewal comes from meditation on the truth that mirrors our identity, the word of God. Know and understand whose you areYou can tell for sure that you are now fully adopted as his own children because God sent the Spirit of His Son into our lives crying out, ‘Papa! Father!’ Doesn’t that privilege of intimate conversation with God make it plain that you are not a slave, but a child? And of you are a child you are also an heir with complete access to the inheritance.’ Galatians 4:6-7Living the life you were created to live comes from relating with the one who created you, God. In discovering your identity, you will come to learn that we are made in His image. Jesus himself tells us that everything that he did, he saw God do. This teaches that everything that comes with sonship is founded on our relationship with God. Responsibilities and authority in the kingdom, promises and benefits too, are all applicable when we are in Him. A relationship with God comes from a simple decision, which is, to make Jesus the Lord and Saviour of your life. Know and understand what you can doOne of the benefits of being in Christ is authority. With relationship comes power and authority. The worlds are made up of kingdoms that are governed by various kings in those realms. The Kingdom of God has God on the throne. In it are systems not created to constrain you, but to give you authority and advantage on this earth. But as many as received him, to them he gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe in His name John 1:12Living your purpose in life, victoriously, is warfare. You need to understand how systems in the Kingdom of God operate for you to exercise authority. You cannot have influence without a relationship with God. Authority and power in the life of a Christian come from being connected to God first. We have been given armor to help us stand against the tricks of the devil. For the offense, we have the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God. Other weapons are for defense, that is, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, walking in the gospel of peace, and the helmet of salvation.
The specifics of your life purpose
You need to understand the details of your life for you to fulfill your purpose. With the fundamentals in place, you might want to know what is specific to you and only you. You may be asking “what is my life purpose?” There is no formulae as God deals with each of us differently.
