There is always something God is doing in your life and mine. Today and in the now. In life, you can miss what God wants to do right now because we tend to focus on past ‘encounters’ with God, or future things that we dream of achieving, whilst missing out on what God is doing with us in the now.
We always look back to the days when we would feel God or know God to be doing a certain thing. Other times we want to be very forward living and focused on tomorrow. Whilst it is good to plan and hope for the future, you also need to look at the now and understand what is God doing now.
Forget the past to help you focus on today
At one point Paul said, “Forgetting the former things I press towards the mark.” Philippians 3:13-14
Paul may have been writing about past troubles and successes he had in his journey, but this also applies even to past encounters. Paul’s words pointed to the importance of staying relevant to the current work at hand and the time you have been allotted for today. Keeping up to speed with God in your today.
God is good and He cares about us more than we imagine Him to. He desires our success and purpose to be fulfilled more than we comprehend at times. You will have moments when you feel or think that the Lord is done with you.
Moments when you think that it is not going to happen as you encountered Him in that vision some time ago, however, I know that God desires your success more than you desire it for yourself. Even when it doesn’t look like it or seem like it’s anywhere close to happening, Jeremiah 29:11.
If God is no longer doing something the way you were used to Him doing it, that doesn’t mean you are done and over with. He is changing strategy and upgrading your today and tomorrow, all you have to do is maintain a level of focus and keep believing that His plans for you are always greater and bigger, Isaiah 55:12. See what God is doing for you in the now.
So when you pray today, pray and know that He wants to fix those problems, give you fresh ideas, bring solutions, and answer those prayers more than you desire them to be answered. God always wants to make sure that His purpose is fulfilled in your life. He even wants to show you new areas within that purpose that you had not known about.
Focus on the more that God has planned
That is why in His word he says, “Call unto me and I will answer you and I will show you great and mighty things which you know not” Jeremiah 33:3
He wants to show you things you’ve never seen before. Through encounters, experiences, and miracles happening in the now. Go ahead and give God the praise for what he has done before. Share your testimony even. But come back to the now. Something new is happening in your life.
Is it not to Jeremiah that He said, “Before I formed you I knew you”? Jeremiah 1:3 He certainly was onto something but prophet Jeremiah was not yet moving at the speed God was moving.
Only an encounter would speed things up. You see, certain encounters are not always what we should seek after. Instead, walking by faith and not by sight is what we should always have at our forefront.
Don’t focus on the problems or seeming delays
I’m sure there is some point you have wondered “Where is God in this?”. Or you have wondered if that prophecy will come to pass. It has been almost 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, or was it even God talking to you?
Some questions may pop up in your mind. When am I going to get healed, Lord? When am I going to get that job? When am I going to get married? When am I going to get out of debt? When am I going to make money and not always run out?
When am I going to start ministering at a higher level in the kingdom? When is my business going to be profitable? Is our church ever going to grow beyond this? Yet the lord’s word never changes, fails, or comes up short of what it says.
“He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we may ever ask or think, according to the power working in our lives.” Ephesians 3:20
what does it mean that God is able to do more than we ever ask or think? Always keep pressing forward in faith and believing that God is always with you. He never leaves you no forsakes you. He is more interested in your progress than you can ever ask or think. God has a plan for us all, that has a wonderful future, than our past or current achievements.
He wants you to focus, on each day that you have been given, and enjoy it whilst doing what He has blessed you to achieve. Matthew 6:34 says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
God bless.
