The Christian life is a life lived with the help of the Holy Spirit. Christianity means to have Jesus Christ in you. The Christian life is the new life of the human being who has been born again, through the power of the Holy Spirit, 2 Corinthians 5:17.
That means as a Christian you ought to live life by the Holy Spirit. A habit that requires daily intimacy with God, and where you spend time in His word, prayer and fellowship, otherwise you risk failure and endless disappointments.
Paul taught this very clearly in Galatians. He said, “But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).” Galatians 5:16 AMPC
If ever you experienced failures, mistakes, struggles, frustrations, and problems, double-check what happened. You can trace it back to not walking in the spirit. Any success that you will ever attain today will be because God did it in you through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes we might miss this part and wonder why things are not working but truth be told, if life becomes difficult we must check the amount of quiet time we spend with God, and how we can remain consistent in this practice.
Without the spirit, you won’t be able to do certain things. We all are learning to know him and grow closer to him day by day, and this will be the case until Jesus comes.
Unfortunately, even the miracles and signs and wonders you see your pastors perform cannot substitute personal intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Your journey with God is personal, and after miracles have been performed, you are expected to learn to be with God, know God and walk with God for yourself.
This makes it very clear that you have to be controlled and led by the Holy Spirit and what He desires from you every day, not the other way around otherwise, as Paul taught us, you will not be able to do what you wanted to do. You can set goals at the start of the year but not accomplish them because you ignored the Holy Spirit.
How to be close to the Holy Spirit daily
One sure way to walk in the spirit daily is by starting your day, with prayer. Better still, if you can pray in other tongues. This helps to put your soul, body, mind, will, and emotions, subject to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
And you will find that you need not try hard to get things done, you easily go with the flow of God’s leading. The Holy Spirit is God’s GPS for your life. And you have to fellowship with Him to benefit from walking with Him.
As a Christian, the business, marriage, decisions, and all that you embark on will require the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, a daily intervention of the Holy Spirit, and even things as simple as discipline, strength, and focus.
It’s so important to be aware of the Holy Spirit, otherwise, you will be frustrated, distracted, and end up failing, yet you have the power of Jesus Christ living inside of you. When you walk in the Spirit, His fruit is revealed in you and it is this fruit that helps you go through the day well, and successfully.
What the Holy Spirit does within you
The word says, “But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things, there is no law [that can bring a charge].” Galatians 5:22-23 AMPC
There are also other things, such as regular fasting, the study of the word, and worshipping Jesus, but all these depend on how close you have allowed the holy spirit to be in your life. He is the one who awakens this desire in you.
If you want to be a success upon success as a Christian start putting this to practice. You will be surprised by what you can accomplish! Even sin will be easier to overcome. Put the Holy Spirit first from today, pray, fast, study the Word, worship, and enjoy a Christian life of great success.
